Fascinating ideas. Astonishing inventions. Fresh approaches to old problems. New ways to think and create.
All these from the inspiring world-renowned TED Radio Hour that had been motivating people from different parts of the globe, and it can now be heard here in the Philippines via Radyo Agila (Eagle Radio) which is the network of AM radio stations of Eagle Broadcasting Corporation (EBC).
Ted Radio Hour will be heard every Saturday at 12:30PM and Friday at 8:00PM starting on January 18, 2014 through a nationwide simultaneous broadcast on Radyo Agila stations comprise of DZEC 1062khz in Mega Manila, DZEL 1260Khz in Lucena City, DWIN 1080khz in Dagupan City, and DXED 1224khz in Davao City.
Ted Radio recently signed the license agreement to broadcast Ted Radio Hour for the first time on mainstream radio in the Philippines through Radyo Agila.
“This is a milestone not only for EBC, but also for the history of radio in the Philippines,” said Nelson Lubao, Radyo Agila station manager and a board member of EBC.
“For the first time in the Philippines, exciting and inspiring talks from the world’s leading thinkers and doers covering a wide range of topics, would now be available to Filipinos, redefining radio listenership and bringing it to a new level,” he said.
The TED Radio Hour is based on talks given by riveting speakers on the widely acclaimed TED stage. Each show is centered on a theme such as the source of happiness, crowd-sourcing innovation, power shifts, or inexplicable connections.
What is the common thread in all these talks? They are all “ideas worth spreading” which is the TED Radio Hour Slogan.
“This is an exciting time for Philippine radio,” said EBC President Jorge Cabacungan. “TED Radio Hour via Radyo Agila will allow Filipinos, both young and old, and virtually anyone who has access to the radio or internet to listen to motivational speakers and experts from various fields all over the world.”
The TED Radio Hour is a co-production of NPR, formerly National Public Radio and TED.
NPR is a privately and publicly funded non-profit membership media organization that serves as a national syndicator to a network of 900 public radio stations in the United States. It produces and distributes news and cultural programming.
In the Philippines, the TED Radio Hour will also be carried by the EBC’s news website, eaglenews.ph which also hosts live audio streaming of Radyo Agila.
The Ted Radio Hour is also heard via podcast in the internet. Aside from the 50 podcasting radio station partners of NPR all over the US, it is also heard at ABC Radio National in Australia.
